It's Your Party: Die if You Want To by Vickie Fee

Blurb

Between a riverboat gambler-theme engagement party and a murder mystery dinner for charity, Dixie, Tennessee, party planner Liv McKay is far too frenzied to feel festive. Add to the mix her duties at the annual businesswomen’s retreat and the antics of a celebrity ghost-hunting diva, and Liv’s schedule is turning out to be the scariest thing about this Halloween—especially when the ladies stumble across a dead body in a cemetery… Morgan Robison was a party girl with a penchant for married men and stirring up a cauldron of drama. Any number of scorned wives or frightened philanderers could be behind her death. As Liv and her best friend, Di, set out to dig up the truth, they’ll face the unexpected and find their efforts hampered by a killer with one seriously haunting vendetta…

Review

Sweet and gentle, this is a very Southern mystery, redolent with Southern culture, language and customs. The tone of the novel reflected what I (British born and bred) thought the Deep South might be like, and I simply adored some of the phrases and sayings, the respect for one’s elders (the way the MC’s mother-in-law is called Miss Betty – not going to tell you what I call mine…), the food and everything!

I realised there was a prior novel to this, but it had no effect on my enjoyment of this one, nor on my understanding. I also didn’t guess who did it, and thought the author quite clever in her plotting and execution.

About the Author

Vickie grew up on a steady diet of Nancy Drew, daydreams and sweet iced tea. Like most people born and raised in Memphis, she didn't tour Graceland until she was in her 30s--and then only as a host to out-of-town guests. She now lives in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with her husband, John. If she cranes her neck slightly, she can see beautiful Lake Superior from her office window. After earning a journalism degree from the University of Memphis, she spent many years as a reporter covering small Southern towns populated with colorful characters, much like those in her books' fictional town of Dixie, Tennessee. Vickie is currently at work on the next book in the Liv and Di in Dixie mystery series. Visit www.vickiefee.com to learn more about the author and her books
