Review
I don't read detective stories usually - the minute I see DS or DI, or whatever, in the blurb, I run away.
But this? The cover caught my eye firstly, then the blurb, and I think the setting (Sherlock Holmes(ish) made me decide to give it a go. and I was pleased I did! It is raw and gritty, pulls no punches and has a brilliant twist.
I think I also enjoyed it because it wasn't only told from the lawyer's POV - a great deal of it is seen through Sarah's eyes, though the author is careful not to let the secret slip.
The novel certainly didn't progress the way I thought it would, and I liked that. I also liked the fact that Sarah was a real person and that the crime itself actually happened.
I would love to see a sequel to this story, and I, along with many more reader's I'm sure, rooted for Sarah and became quite attached to her.
About the Author
Anna lives in Camberwell, London, not far from where the murder at the heart of The Unseeing took place. The Unseeing is Anna's first novel. She is currently working on her second, which is about a collector of folk tales and fairy lore on the Isle of Skye who realises that girls are going missing. Anna studied English at Pembroke College, Oxford, before becoming a criminal justice solicitor. She divides her time between writing, reading, lawyering, and child-wrangling.
