Cosy, uplifting romance novels set in Scotland

There’s something about a Scottish backdrop for a romance story that sets my heart racing. Maybe it’s the scenery (I love the mountains, and in the UK they don't get any higher!) and I'm fascinated with castles - and you must admit that Scotland has a fair few of those. And outside of the major towns and cities, there are so many gorgeous villages, which also appeal to me since many of my stories are set in small rural communities because that's what I'm familiar with.

Scottish-set romances often follow characters who need a fresh start or a change of pace. They arrive in a new village or return to an old one, meet people who surprise them, and slowly find their footing again. The settings tend to be memorable, like coastal towns with blustery weather (Scotland is reknowned for that), or peaceful glens in the Highlands, and most if them have quaint high streets, and communities who got out of their way to make room for newcomers (and are rather nosy too!).

If you enjoy stories that invite you to slow down and spend time with characters who feel like friends by the final chapter, Scotland is a lovely place to visit through fiction, and it's one of the reasons I set my Coorie Castle Craft series on the stunning Isle of Skye.

Aside from my own books (which I'll mention at the end) here are a few more titles to add to your Scottish romance reading list.
