Sweet Temptation by Lucy Diamond
Maddie's getting it from all sides. Her bitchy new boss at the radio station humiliates her live on air about her figure, her glamour-puss mum keeps dropping not-so-subtle hints that Maddie should lose weight and her kids are embarrassed to be seen with her after the disastrous Mums' race at their school sports day. Something's got to change . . .
Maddie joins the local weight-watching group expecting more humiliation but instead finds two unlikely allies –bitter divorcee Lauren who, despite running a dating agency, has signed off romance for ever and shy Jess, the beautician, who's desperate to fit into a size ten wedding dress for her Big Day.
Three women's fight to lose weight, three different outlooks, three reasons... And when they come together by chance, a support group is formed that survives everything that life throws at it.
Funny, heartbreaking, uplifting - this book has it all, as well as addressing some serious issues of psychological abuse, low self-esteem, cancer...
Lucy Diamond at her very best.
About the Author
Lucy Diamond grew up in Nottingham and went to university in Leeds where she studied English Literature. After graduating, she worked in publishing and at the BBC, and in her spare time she began writing children's books under a number of different pen names. Two small children later, an evening class in creative writing motivated her to try a longer piece of fiction and explore some of her own feelings about motherhood. This eventually became a novel, Any Way You Want Me, and she was thrilled when Pan Macmillan made her an offer of publication.
