Old books, new baubles, and a knitting disaster

I recently had a long discussion with my other half about the books we read when we were kids. Being horse-mad I simply adored the Silver Brumby series by Elyne Mitchell, and I read my copies so often that they fell apart. I think it was those and other horsey tales that inspired me to write my Etti Summers’ The Stables on Muddypuddle Lane series.
Remembering Elyne Mitchell’s books gave me a yearning to read them again. So when I found the same ones online that I used to own, lovingly used and the pages gorgeously time-worn, I bought them. I haven’t started treading them yet; at the moment it's enough for me to know I have them. Anyway, I've been occupied with other things…
On the writing front I've finally finished the first draft of Snowed In at the Forever Home on Muddypuddle Lane, which is due out at the end of November, and since it’s a Christmas book I’m now in a festive mood, and had to be talked out of putting the decorations up – especially since I bought a couple of new baubles. My other half eats broccoli almost every day (he swears by it), so I couldn’t resist getting him a broccoli tree decoration. I bought a much nicer stack of shiny books for myself.
Now it’s on to the edits for Snowed In, but that’s a job for this coming week.
I've been doing more knitting and have finished a hat and a teeny-weeny little jumper. Actually, the teeny hat and jumper aren’t that teeny (the hat nearly fits me!) so I need to take a good hard look at my tension! I also bought more wool, because now I’m addicted. The good thing is, unlike with writing or editing, I can knit while watching the telly. And I became so engrossed in the Riot Women series that I binge-watched all six episodes over two and a half evenings. Such brilliant writing, plotting and acting!!
Aside from writing fiction this week, I’ve been doing some research on the business side of being a writer, ahead of a get-together with the lovely authors who make up the Cariad Chapter of the RNA.
And on a final note, I’m taking part in the Children in Read book auction for a fantastically good cause.

So looking forward to the next Muddypuddle book!
I brought in the boxes today to pack up my Swarovski crystal stands ready to pack them away to make room for the Christmas tree ...
